This
completely revised and updated edition of Real
Reads offers a friendly and accessible
introduction to English literature. Aimed
primarily at university undergraduates, the book
is also ideal reading and study material for
high school and mature students. The authentic,
unedited texts include fables, poems, and short
stories by such well-known authors as Oscar
Wilde, WH Auden, Robert Frost, John Steinbeck,
and DH Lawrence, among others. Real Reads
is arranged thematically, with the clear goal of

Each
text is prefaced by a Before Reading
section, to connect the themes with studentsﾕ

A summary of the text is also provided, plus an
author biography. In After Reading,
students are invited to form their own opinions
of the texts and share these with peers. Pair
